Our History

1977

Lyndon Metal Fabricators is established in Wallburg, NC by Lyn Freeman and Don Atkins (hence the name Lyndon) with a workforce of six employees. At this time, Lyndon Metal Fabricators specializes in miscellaneous fabrication.

1987

The shop doubles in size, and fabrication slowly shifts away from miscellaneous services to structural steel fabrication.

1994

Lyndon Steel Company continues its steady growth and begins an era of rapid expansion.

1997

LSC grows by adding a second fabrication plant in Winston-Salem, NC.

2004

Lyndon Steel, Fabco Metal Products, Steel Fabricators, and Steel, LLC merge to form FabSouth, LLC.

2019

LSC continues expansion at the Kinston, NC location while improving logistics and adding an additional 65,000 square feet, which now includes blast clean capabilities.

1982

Lyndon relocates to its present location on Union Cross Road to a 4,000 square foot facility.

1989

Lyndon Metal Fabricators becomes Lyndon Steel Company (LSC), and Don Atkins (ret. 2003) gains business partner Dave Morgan (ret. 2013).

1996

LSC adds a fabrication shop for miscellaneous metals.

1999

LSC expands with a new structural fabrication facility in Kinston, NC.

2007

LSC adds additional fabrication shop for Drill Line operation as well as an expansion for Miscellaneous Metals.

Today, LSC has over 350 employees and is one of the largest structural steel fabricators in the United States, with over 50,000 tons of annual capacity.
